Turtle Watching

The waters surrounding the Island, especially the west coast is blessed with a large population of Sea Turtles which are an endangered species. Turtle hatcheries have been set up and they encourage villagers to bring in turtle eggs found on the beaches in order to assist the breeding process. A visit to a Hatchery will explain the process and visitors get to see the different types of Sea Turtles and it may be possible to even to release some little baby turtles in to the sea. Late evening, if you are lucky you might get a chance to see the mother turtles coming on to the beach to lay eggs.
